The Incredible "True" Story – Custom Pop Culture Graphic Mural Project
The Incredible "True" Story is a passion-fueled graphic art mural created as a tribute to the pop culture icons that shaped my brother and me. Rooted in our shared love of Logic’s concept album The Incredible True Story—whose artwork was originally inspired by Wes Anderson's The Life Aquatic—we reimagined the piece by casting our own personal heroes across film and television. This project blends nostalgia, fandom, and visual storytelling into a single, cohesive artwork that’s both a time capsule and a celebration of our creative bond.
Process:
Bringing this mural to life meant balancing intense admiration with design restraint. I started by conceptualizing the lineup: a dream cast of characters we love—Cliff Booth and Rick Dalton (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Johnny Lawrence (Cobra Kai), Deadpool and Wolverine (Deadpool & Wolverine), Saul Goodman (Better Call Saul), and Adonis Creed (Creed). Each character was selected not just for their cultural impact, but for how they represent different parts of our personalities and shared interests.
Next came style. I wanted to maintain the cinematic energy of the original Logic artwork while making the aesthetic unmistakably ours. Using Illustrator, I began drafting character silhouettes and compositions to preserve their essence with minimal lines. Photoshop allowed me to fine-tune likenesses and unify their visual weight within the scene. The result: a linear 2D interpretation that felt both clean and characterful.
This project pushed me to think about how much personality can be conveyed through simplicity—and how design can turn fandom into art. It’s more than a tribute; it’s a portrait of brotherhood, imagination, and creative identity.
